RedDot Brewhouse

And here I am, reviving an otherwise dead blog all for the one and only RedDot Brewhouse.  After a hospitable night at the brewhouse, I felt that I really needed to permanently etch my memory of my visit somewhere and why not in this beautiful space (if I do say so myself)?

Food: 4/5
Price: $$
Service: 5/5
Ambience: 5/5 (absolutely gorgeous)

RedDot Brewhouse should be no stranger to Singaporeans especially with its distinct green lager which thralled many people. I had my first brush with their beers when they had a branch at Boat Quay. They had their distinctive RedDot balloon right at the front of the shop and tables full of green coloured beer.

Fast forward years later, I reconnected with RedDot via the craft beer sessions organised by Changi Airpot and decided to visit their original brewhouse at Dempsey.

I'm really sad that I didn't visit earlier, given how gorgeous the place was. It's a giant open-air one storey house which was built by the Ng family (owners of RedDot Brewhouse) as they used to be builders. Mrs. Ng personally sees to the decor of the place and chooses the various plants and flowers which you see all around. The interior is gorgeous and fit for a dreamy wedding (which they do host as well). The exterior has a beautiful garden and pond, and a flight of brick steps leading up to a beautiful arch. You get a peak of their brew tanks as well from the entrance.

(P.S I TOOK MULTIPLE VIDOES BUT BLOGGER SEEMS TO BE UNABLE TO HAVE THEM UPLOADED? NOT SURE IF I'M NOW A TECH NOOB BUT EVEN TRYING 3P HOSTING SITES DIDN'T WORK. So unfortunately I am unable to post videos of the beautiful place and various beers we tried.)

RedDot Brewhouse is the first Singaporean brewery and features Singapore's only female beer brew master, Crystalla Huang. They've been around for almost 15 years now and we were very blessed to have experienced an amazing night of beers, cocktails, food and knowledge from Mrs Ng, who is the owner of RedDot Brewhouse and Crystalla's mother. Thank you for sitting down with us and sharing your wealth of knowledge! The hospitality from the team is impeccable- special shoutout to Stamford and Jeff for their amazing service and explanation on the different kinds of beers.

The food menu is specially prepared to go well with all their beers and I have to say their grill menu is fantastic. We really love the grilled squid which was super fresh and drenched in slightly sticky sweet sauce and paired superbly with the in-house made Thai garlic chilli by their Thai manager. We also had the sausage platter which contains their beer sausage, and a platter of grilled pork belly with spicy sweet Thai chilli (also made by their Thai manager).

And who can forget about their delicious beers? We started off with a Czech Pilsner which was light and crisp. They won a gold for this beer so it's definitely a must try. In fact they won a gold for a lot of their beers so please try all. We also had their Sauvignon Ale which was a marriage between beer and wine yeast and golly, it's was a true beauty. The beer was fruity and floral and so, so, refreshing! We also tried their seasonal brews- Altbier (hints of caramel and malty, reminded me of very light dark ale), RedDot Smoked Marzen (also hints of caramel and malty but more towards a dark ale). The latter is also their Oktoberfest special!

And for those who are not fans of beer, their cocktails are superb too! Mrs Ng suggested 2 cocktails- Blue Ocean (barcardi based and reminded me a little of gummy bears, although everyone else begged to differ) and the Sunshine (Smirnoff vodka with cherry brandy and hazelnut syrup, which was my strong favourite because the hazelnut really brought out a nice nutty fragrance to the drink). These are known to be favourites amongst ladies.

Definitely give RedDot a try if you haven't already. And if you need to recover from the news of recent tightening of dining in measures again, I recommend getting some beer from their e-store: https://shop.reddotbrewhouse.com.sg/

P.S. They're also pet-friendly so bring your furry friends for a beautiful night out!
