Places visited: Business District (the one near Gyeongbokgung Palace) & Insa-dong
Definitely one of the shorter picture diaries because more than half of the pictures taken that day was at Gyeongbokgung Palace. Because of the crazy summer heat, ph and I had to escape into cafes all the time and wolf down a lot of 'bing su' (shaved ice). One of our favourites was this one at Caffe Bene-- champagne and mixed berries bing su with cheese. We walked quite a bit under the hot sun and especially when we walked around the humongous palace grounds, this particular bowl of bing su was extremely refreshing. But I truly like it and had it twice when I was in Korea. I love the juicy little berries and bits of cheese! Very special concoction.
Insa-dong is perfect for people who want to get some Korean memorabilia or souvenirs. Everything is really traditional there-- traditional Korean goods, tea houses and even Starbucks was spelt in Korean for its stall sign! And of course, who can forget the amazing street food everywhere you go. There were a few 10,000 won shoe stalls too but I couldn't find anything I liked in my size :(
